In an effort to organize my thoughts and Web pages, I've moved on to a new blog. eng-ming.com/blog. Hopefully, there I will be able to focus on writing about art, design, and comics in the context of my work in Austin, TX. Thanks for following me and stay in touch!

Adult draw

Just listened to this NPR story on why adults don't draw. Answer: it's childish, and we all have to grow up. Here are some sketches from NPR's Michele Norris.

2 four 1 or too for won...

Some how I managed to get two new episodes up without anyone noticing. These past two are continuing with the one-page format. I really wish I had something witty to say, but I've so brain dead from work and classes. HAPPY READING

Adventures on minimum wage | SXSW - cheapo style

Preparing for South by Southwest 2009, Reba and I are scouring the internet for freebies. I wasn't a total believer last year, but we found out that with a little research and a lot of cycling around the city opportunities just seemed to present themselves.
1. For starters here's a site that lists side parties. A lot of them just require RSVP and nothing else.
Austin360
2. Free concerts at Auditorium Shores. Who's playing? I have no idea.
Free South By
3. Screenburn - industry pros discuss and pitch new ideas on video games. Plus, rumor has it that we can try out some games. Fun fun fun.

Japan - Geisha - Maiko Design
Part of the perks of filling my spare time with design and programming classes is deeply discounted workshops. For the next two weeks I get to take part in a screen printing workshop, and perhaps I can some day come up with an image that may some day find its way onto a mailbox or telephone pole. For now, I came up with this Maiko (Geisha in training) design taken from a picture from one of my countless Japan experiences.

While I'm here... Episode 16
Since I am devoting valuable free time to updating, why not add a new episode of Yellowpages. I've been experimenting with different sizes to get a web issue on a single page. Hopefully, this will make the web episodes more user friendly for the ADHD inclined.

New Designs

New semester, new classes, and new designs. I started on plans for redesigning pages for friends, clients, and my own. Here's a peak into a new logo for moi.
